The crows really are your bestfriend for this achievement.Ī hidden gem for food is the natural plants, eg the Old beard lichen, mushroom and rosehip berries, remember to go to the craftscreen and prepare them then cook them. Listen out for the crows and if you can't see anything survey the area and the carcess will show on the map. You are allowed to harvest dead animals as long as you didnt kill them. The best tips I can give is remember to take charcoal from your fires and survey areas, even areas you have already surveyed, it will show you any fresh carcesses you can harvest or other resources. Head to named locations first and loot everything, if you are going for Living off the Land achievement from day 1 head straight to frozen water areas and begin harvesting the Cat tail plants, you should get at least 4 days worth of food from those alone, plenty of time to stumble on a carcess.
For this achievement makes sure you manage your inventory well, collect all food you encounter and store it in one of your bases. Make sure you have at least two bases of operation, where you store all your excess gear.
Start on either Mystery lake or Coastal Highway. Its important to note that the criteria is specific to the FIRST 25 days of your game, so unfortunately if you fished, snared a rabbit etc in the first few days, you wont get the achievement.
